PMBOK Guide 8th Edition Release Date
PMI's President and CEO Pierre Le Manh confirmed that the release is targeted for Q3 2025, although this depends on the progress made after the Draft Comment Period.
PMP Exam Change in 2025?
When asked whether there will be any changes in the PMP Exam in 2025 following the release of PMBOK 8th edition, PMI's President explained that the PMP exam is not directly tied to the PMBOK Guide but is influenced by its updates. However, the PMP Exam Content Outline (ECO) is typically revised shortly after a new edition is published, meaning the PMP exam might be subject to updates in Q4 2025 or early 2026. For now, candidates should continue their PMP exam preparation without concern, as the foundational knowledge remains relevant regardless of exam updates.
The PMP exam is poised to maintain its current format and content for the foreseeable future, providing consistency and reliability for aspiring project management professionals. Consequently, if you're currently preparing for the exam, you should use the PMBOK 7th edition and refer to the latest ECO.
More importantly, if you already started preparing for the PMP exam, you should schedule it soon; since a lot might change later this year, you should avoid going through the hassle of repeating the whole preparation process all over again.
